Fuerteventura is one of seven Canary Islands situated in the Atlantic Ocean, nearby mainland Spain. Many other superb island attractions are located within easy reach of Fuerteventura, with the neighbouring island of Lanzarote standing to the north of Fuerteventura. To the west of Fuerteventura, the other main islands include Gran Canaria and Tenerife, with 'island hopping' always being popular. Standing directly above Fuerteventura, the neighbouring island of Lanzarote is a vibrant place to visit, with a population of approximately 102,000. Lanzarote contains many top holiday resorts and an impressive number of beaches, including the Playa Blanca, Papagayo and also the stunning stretches of sand around Lanzarote's Puerto del Carmen area. Further inland and away from the beaches you will discover many more attractions, both natural and man-made. Regularly visited by locals and tourists from Fuerteventura, many of Lanzarote's best attractions include the spreading Parque Nacional de Timanfaya, and the volcanic caves of Los Jameos del Agua and the Cueva De Los Verdes. Fuerteventura Attractions Nearby: Gran Canaria - Fuerteventura to Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain
One of the largest and most popular of the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria has a population of 735,000 and is close to Fuerteventura, lying to the west of the island. Daily Trasmediterránea ferries travel from the Morro Jable harbour to Gran Canaria, with the journey lasting around one and a half hours. Further ferries depart from Puerto del Rosario, lasting around eight hours. Home to a number of appealing villages, such as Arucas, Teror and Vega de San Mateo, other notable attractions on Gran Canaria include the yachting town of Puerto de Mogán, the excellent tourist resort of Maspalomas and the clean, sandy beaches in the Playa del Inglés area, where sunbathing, swimming and water sports are always popular.

The largest of all the Canary Islands, with a population of around 810,000, Tenerife is within easy reach of Fuerteventura and is home to many superb attractions, perfect for all ages.
